Race Training.
We have now introduced a Race Training course aimed at sailors who want to improve their performance at racing or cruising. It is run by Instructors and crew who are experienced in racing keelboats using either our Beneteau 44.7 yacht or your own boat.
The syllabus is adapted to the needs of the individual and can cover the following subjects.
Hull and foil condition
Rigging set up
Sail selection setting and trim under various weather conditions.
The correct use of sheets, genoa cars, travellers and vangs.
Halyard, outhaul and backstay tension.
Boat trim.
The tasks and organisation of the crew.
Spinnaker preparation, hoisting, trimming and dropping.
Different methods of gybing.
Helming techniques and the effect of waves and wind shifts.
The use of instruments.
Participation in races.
The course assumes a basic knowledge of sailing and safety and is aimed at those sailors who wish to become valued members of a racing team, or those who want to improve their own or their boat's racing results. It will also help cruising sailors to be more efficient or have the satisfaction of knowing their yacht is being well sailed.
For those studying for RYA qualifications it also gives the opportunity to increase their knowledge and add additional mileage and sea time.
