RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Shorebased course.
This is an advanced navigation theory course for those who wish to undertake longer coastal passages or are preparing for their RYA Coastal Skipper or RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or Coastal Certificate.
We assume that you are already qualified as a RYA Day Skipper or have relevant experience and although some time is set aside for the revision of subjects covered in the elementary course you should arrive with an understanding of the basics and a good working knowledge of the Collision Regulations particularly lights and shapes.
On this course you will cover more complex aspects of navigation at sea including:-
•how to work out secondary tidal heights
•position fixing
•navigation in restricted visibility
•passage planning
•the capabilities and limitations of electronic navigation aids
There is special emphasis on the Collision Regulations and Meteorology.
In addition to all the RYA practice charts and navigation tables, course notes and Chartplotter, we will supply a copy of the collision regulations and the necessary plotting instruments for Chartwork,
